SUMBAWA — A telecommunications equipment theft in a remote area was solved through the rapid response of the Quick Response Unit (URC) of the Sumbawa Police Criminal Investigation Unit. Within one day of receiving the report, officers arrested the suspect and secured all physical evidence.
According to Police Report No. 78, the theft occurred on Thursday (24/9/2026) at approximately 11:15 PM Wita on DMT Tower Road, Pada Suka Village, Lunyuk District, Sumbawa Regency. Four XL Smart BTS tower locations lost critical electronic components, including UBBPG units and SFP modules, with total losses estimated at IDR 110 million.
Automated Alarm System Trigger and Suspect Pursuit
The company’s automated alarm system detected the intrusion, prompting immediate reporting to the Sumbawa Police for legal action.
The Quick Response Unit, led directly by Head of Criminal Investigation Unit Police Commissioner Adjunct Dwi Kurniawan Kusuma Putra, initiated field surveillance. Acting on intelligence, the team targeted a logistics courier office in the Kebayan area on Friday (25/9/2026) at approximately 2:30 PM Wita.
Officers apprehended a 34-year-old man identified as ACN as he prepared to ship seven stolen units out of the region, successfully preventing the movement of stolen property.
Search Operations and Evidence Confiscation
A follow-up search at the suspect’s residence in Labuhan Sumbawa yielded three additional units and dozens of SFP modules. In total, officers confiscated ten UBBPG units, 50 SFP modules, dismantling tools including wire cutters and tower rack keys, and one vehicle used in the operation.
