JAKARTA — A joint team from the Resmob and Jatanras operational units of the North Jakarta Metropolitan Police Criminal Investigation Unit secured two suspects in a severe assault case involving EY (28), a man who passed away after being found severely injured in Tanjung Priok. The suspects, identified as YG and RA, were arrested in separate locations on Wednesday (23/9/2026), 17 days following the incident.
The investigation originated from an official report. This case demonstrates that a citizen complaint serves not merely as an administrative file, but as the beginning of an investigator’s responsibility to build a case founded on admissible evidence.
Picked Up, Involved in an Altercation, Then Found Injured
The incident unfolded on Sunday (6/9/2026) at approximately 3:19 PM WIB. YG, accompanied by a man identified as JA, picked up EY at West Swasembada XI Street, Kebon Bawang, Tanjung Priok, following an earlier argument between the victim and YG.
Approximately three hours later, at 6:31 PM WIB, EY was found lying on Ampera Street, Tanjung Priok. The victim sustained severe bruising, blunt force trauma, and physical hemorrhaging. EY was rushed to the Tanjung Priok Regional General Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him deceased following emergency treatment.
Police Report as the Operational Starting Point
The case was registered under Police Report Number LP/B/2333/IX/2026/SPKT/POLRES METRO JAKARTA UTARA/POLDA METRO JAYA. Investigators handled the matter under Article 466 of the Criminal Code concerning severe assault.
The report was acted upon immediately. Investigators interviewed the complainant and multiple witnesses, examined nearby CCTV footage, and collected physical evidence from the vicinity.
The joint team, led by First Inspector Nurzain Saputra and Inspector Amirul Fadel Kurniyanto, successfully apprehended YG and RA. Officers also brought in a key witness for further questioning.
Medical Examination and CCTV: The Evidentiary Foundation
Investigators secured two primary pieces of evidence: a formal medical examination report (visum et repertum) and a digital CCTV recording file. Both hold significant legal standing under Law No. 20 of 2025 on the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), effective since January 2, 2026.
Article 235 paragraph (1) of the new Code explicitly recognizes written documents, witness testimonies, physical evidence, and electronic evidence as valid legal proof. Statutory regulations mandate that suspect designations and formal detentions require a minimum of two admissible pieces of evidence.
These evidentiary standards are strictly enforced. Judges hold authority to evaluate the authenticity of electronic files and the legality of how they were obtained, requiring investigators to maintain the integrity of digital CCTV files from the outset.
Both suspects are currently undergoing examination at the North Jakarta Police Headquarters. Investigators continue to detail individual roles, including the potential involvement of JA who accompanied YG during the initial pickup.
The death of EY brings deep grief to his family, and the report they submitted carries the hope for clarity. This is where criminal investigation operates: receiving reports, understanding the underlying facts, and executing measured steps that stand up to judicial scrutiny. #ReserseBekerja
