JAKARTA — The Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) of the Indonesian National Police, Irjen Pol. Drs. Agus Suryonugroho, S.H., M.Hum., moved swiftly to inspect the disaster area directly. Representing the National Police Chief, Jenderal Polisi Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Kakorlantas handed over social aid to residents affected by the recent fire in Kemayoran Gempol, Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

This humanitarian action, conducted on Monday (June 8, 2026), serves as a concrete manifestation of the National Police’s deep care for citizens facing unforeseen disasters. This proactive measure is also an integral part of the series of events celebrating the 80th anniversary of Bhayangkara Day, which carries the grand theme “National Police for Society.”

“Representing the National Police Chief (Jenderal Polisi Listyo Sigit Prabowo) and the Bhayangkara Anniversary committee, we are handing over social aid to the affected community today, specifically those impacted by the fire,” stated Kakorlantas Polri, Irjen Pol. Drs. Agus Suryonugroho, S.H., M.Hum.

In addition to distributing basic food logistics, the National Police have designed a variety of other strategic humanitarian programs. These community-oriented initiatives will be executed progressively in various regions across the archipelago to welcome the landmark 80th Bhayangkara Day.

Home Renovations and Nationwide Clean Water Provision

The extensive social assistance programs include home renovation projects for unhabitable houses, religious community service to clean local places of worship, distribution of agricultural tools and machinery, and the provision of clean water facilities for communities experiencing shortages.

“Later on, there will also be home renovations, religious community services, and clean water provision implemented across Indonesia. Through this social aid, the National Police aims to remain close to the community, and we humbly ask for your blessings and prayers,” continued Kakorlantas Polri, outlining the environment-focused programs.

To specifically relieve the burden on the fire victims in the Kemayoran area, the National Police prepared approximately 500 logistic packages. These hundreds of aid boxes were immediately distributed in an orderly manner to all residents who lost their homes in the blaze.

“We are adjusting the distribution to ensure every single person affected receives this aid. We have prepared nearly 500 boxes to be handed over here in Kemayoran,” explained Irjen Pol. Agus Suryonugroho at the temporary shelter location.

Furthermore, Kakorlantas explained that the home renovation program will stand out as one of the highlight activities for this year’s Bhayangkara Day commemoration. The physical reconstruction program is scheduled to run simultaneously across various legal jurisdictions in Indonesia, targeting dozens of underprivileged households.

Simultaneous Headquarters-to-District Police Synergy

“The nationwide home renovation program will cover approximately 80 houses. This has been planned to take place simultaneously from the National Police Headquarters, Regional Police, down to District Police levels. Therefore, this Bhayangkara Anniversary truly encompasses the entire Indonesian National Police across the country,” stated Kakorlantas in detail.

Through this momentum, the National Police hopes to further solidify a healthy, emotional bond with the general public. This recurring program is also targeted at increasing the public trust index regarding the overall institutional performance of the police force.

“We hope that through the 80th Bhayangkara Service, the 80th Anniversary of the Indonesian National Police, and with your blessings, the police will become increasingly loved by the public, always stay close to the citizens, and naturally become more professional in executing future duties,” Kakorlantas Polri concluded.

On the other hand, the affected residents expressed deep gratitude for the immense attention given by the ranks of Korlantas and the National Police Headquarters. Residents noted that the assistance packages—consisting of free medical checkups and basic food supplies—greatly helped meet the daily basic needs of evacuees currently undergoing psychological recovery.

“The National Police is truly present for the people. We feel an immense sense of care and concern after this disaster occurred,” expressed one of the affected residents emotionally.

Accurate Demographic Data of Affected Communities

Based on temporary field data compiled at the site, the massive fire that tore through the neighborhoods of RW 004 and RW 005 in Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran Gempol, directly impacted 679 individuals. These hundreds of victims span 354 families, with physical damage totaling 304 units of buildings completely destroyed by the flames.

When analyzed demographically, the total victim pool includes vulnerable groups requiring specialized care. This group comprises 35 elderly citizens, 90 toddlers, 53 children of primary school age, 60 junior high school students, 22 high school/vocational students, and 414 adults.

All of these affected groups are guaranteed a balanced portion of attention within the humanitarian aid distribution framework managed by the police. Additionally, medical teams have been fully deployed to anticipate post-disaster health issues among the evacuees.

During the execution of this humanitarian social activity, Kakorlantas Polri was accompanied directly by the Secretary of the National Police Medical and Health Center (Sespusdokkes), Brigjen Pol. dr. Nariyana, alongside other Principal Officers (PJU) of Korlantas Polri.
