SAO PAULO – Indonesian tennis star Janice Tjen has made history by securing a spot in the final of the WTA 250 Sao Paulo Open 2025 in Brazil. She achieved this landmark feat after defeating the sixth seed, Francesca Jones from Great Britain, in a hard-fought semifinal match.
This victory is more than just a ticket to the final; it ends Indonesia’s 23-year-long drought in WTA tournaments. Tjen is now the first Indonesian female tennis player to reach a WTA final since Angelique Widjaja accomplished the feat in 2002.
