MAKASSAR — The Quick Response Unit (URC) of the Mobile Brigade Resmob Unit of the South Sulawesi Regional Police General Crime Investigation Directorate secured a 54-year-old woman identified as LS, who is suspected of involvement in a fraud and embezzlement case valued at approximately IDR 550 million. The suspect allegedly promised the victim’s child a seat at a medical faculty.
The arrest took place at a boarding house in Tallo District, Makassar City, on Saturday (10/10/2026). This action was taken in response to an official assistance request from the Tarakan Police, North Kalimantan Regional Police, where the case was initially reported.
Jurisdictional boundaries posed no obstacle. Inter-regional coordination enabled rapid information sharing, allowing the team in South Sulawesi to take immediate operational action.
Field Investigation and Suspect Confession
Head of South Sulawesi Police Resmob Unit Police Commissioner Wawan Suryadinata directly led the operational team in the field. Upon receiving the assistance request, URC personnel conducted inquiries to locate LS before executing the arrest.
The case originated when the victim, identified as HA, sought assistance from LS to secure medical faculty admission for their child at Hasanuddin University (Unhas). However, those efforts failed. LS then directed the victim to seek admission at Trisakti University instead.
Throughout this process, LS allegedly received payments from the victim totaling approximately IDR 550 million. This amount formed the basis of the official police report.
According to Police Commissioner Wawan, initial questioning revealed that LS admitted to receiving the funds. However, this confession serves as initial material that will be thoroughly verified by investigators.
Inter-Jurisdictional Law Enforcement and Public Education
Police Commissioner Wawan emphasized that LS was secured only after the team completed preliminary inquiries. This approach ensures every enforcement step is grounded in physical facts rather than mere speculation.
Following her apprehension, LS was brought to the South Sulawesi Police Resmob Headquarters for further questioning. Subsequent legal proceedings will fully determine LS’s role and legal accountability in this matter.
Furthermore, this case serves as a public warning regarding shortcuts for university admissions involving large financial demands, which should be scrutinized from the outset.
This sequence demonstrates a structured operational workflow: a report filed in Tarakan was acted upon via inter-provincial coordination, the suspect’s movements were tracked, and LS was secured in Makassar. Each stage proceeded seamlessly without delay.
Investigators operate by acting on reports and inter-regional assistance requests, verifying physical facts, securing suspects, and ensuring cases advance toward clear legal accountability. #ReserseBekerja
