MAGELANG — Two cases of different nature, one involving a victim who suffered serious injuries and another concerning a resident whose motorcycle was misappropriated after being borrowed, have now entered a new phase of legal proceedings. The URC Team of Magelang City Police successfully apprehended suspects in both cases and presented the developments during a press conference in mid-September 2026.
The first case occurred on Cempaka Street, Central Magelang District, on Friday (24/7/2026). Three individuals identified by the initials RA, C, and J allegedly assaulted a resident, leaving the victim unconscious for several days while receiving treatment at a hospital. Medical examination results showed that the victim sustained life-threatening injuries.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Magelang City Police, AKP Iwan Kristiana, explained that investigators traced the suspects until RA was arrested in Mertoyudan on August 30, 2026. RA was charged under Article 262 paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code, carrying a maximum sentence of nine years’ imprisonment. Meanwhile, C and J remain on the wanted list and continue to be pursued by investigators.
The second case took place in the Griya Pos area, South Magelang, on August 26, 2026. A man identified as MRR (25) borrowed the victim’s motorcycle and later pawned it to another individual, identified as N, for Rp1.5 million. Investigators found that the money obtained from the transaction was used for gambling activities.
Investigators moved quickly, solving the case within four days after the incident. On August 30, 2026, MRR was arrested at his residence in Mertoyudan. Officers also seized the motorcycle and its registration certificate (BPKB) as evidence. MRR was charged under Article 486 of the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of four years’ imprisonment.
The handling of these two cases illustrates a systematic investigative process, beginning with receiving victims’ reports, tracing witnesses and evidence, apprehending suspects, and securing evidence to support further legal proceedings. For suspects who remain at large, pursuit efforts continue.
The four-day period between the report and arrest, combined with the successful recovery of the motorcycle and registration certificate, demonstrates that public complaints were responded to swiftly before suspects’ traces and evidence could disappear.
