IdnAround.com –The Indonesia women’s national football team expressed their gratitude to the people of Indonesia after clinching the 2024 AFF Women’s Cup title with a 3-1 victory over Cambodia in the final at the New Laos National Stadium in Vientiane on Thursday, December 5.

“Thank you to the Indonesian people for your support. We are the champions,” said Indonesia’s captain, Viny Silfianus Sunaryo, in a video posted on the official Instagram account @timnasindonesia on Friday. Viny’s message was echoed by her teammates, including Gea Yumanda, Estella Loupattij, and others, who celebrated the victory with cheers of joy.

What Viny conveyed was also shared by fellow “Garuda Pertiwi” players such as Sydney Hopper, Katarina Stalin, and Claudia Scheunemann, who all expressed their thanks, saying, “Thank you for the support. Champions.”

The 3-1 win over Cambodia in the final marked Indonesia’s first-ever title in the AFF Women’s Cup. Reva Octaviani starred in the match, scoring twice (19′ and 58′). Sydney Hopper added another goal for Indonesia (35′), while Cambodia managed to pull one back through Hok Saody (32′).

In addition to the championship, Reva Octaviani was named the tournament’s best player and finished as the top scorer of the 2024 AFF Women’s Cup with three goals, tying with Cambodia’s Poeurn Kunthea.

Indonesia’s goalkeeper, Laita Masykuroh, was also recognized as the tournament’s best goalkeeper, having conceded just one goal throughout the competition.

As the champions, Indonesia has secured a spot in the 2025 ASEAN Women’s Football Championship, alongside runner-up Cambodia and third-place finisher Singapore. In the 2025 tournament, Indonesia will compete against the top five teams from the 2022 AFF Women’s Cup: the Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Australia.
