President Joko Widodo emphasized that the construction of the nation’s capital city (IKN) Nusantara is a big leap for transformation towards an Advanced Indonesia. IKN Nusantara will show the greatness of the Indonesian nation and reflect the national identity.
“We will build an IKN that truly shows the greatness of the Indonesian nation, reflects the national identity, ensures social, economic and environmental sustainability, creates a forest city, smart city, modern and sustainable city, and has international standards,” said the President in his remarks. on the Home Archipelago Program Towards a New National Capital which was broadcast on Radio Republik Indonesia, as shown on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube, on Wednesday (February 23, 2022).
The President believes that IKN Nusantara will be a representative of a superior nation. In addition, IKN is also a form of response to Indonesia’s commitment in tackling climate change.
“IKN also responds to Indonesia’s commitment to tackling climate change, which can be seen through the achievement and management of various indicators towards net zero carbon and 100 percent new renewable energy by 2060,” he added.
With the development of IKN, transformation in a number of fields will be carried out, starting from the transformation of society, the environment, to mobility. According to the President, transportation at IKN Nusantara will utilize green energy that is efficient, energy-efficient and low-carbon.
“A city that is based on pedestrians and mass transportation and is ready to adapt to future transportation,” he added.
In addition, the Head of State also emphasized the existence of transformation to work smarter and creatively. Work will be interconnected and integrated with one another.
“Transformation in working smart, creative, interconnected, integrated with each other, and forging collaboration creates a productive work culture, serves and is close to the community,” said the President.
The President realized that the development of the Nusantara IKN received the attention of various parties so that there were many aspirations and high hopes for it. This makes IKN a great joint work that requires the contribution, role, and cooperation of all parties.
