The Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah, said that the Ministry of Manpower encourages the expansion of the foreign labor market in the formal sector. Answering various requests for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) from abroad.
“We want to expand job opportunities. The new formal sector labor market, Alhamdulillah, is in great demand,” said the Minister of Manpower while attending a Working Meeting with Committee III DPD RI in the Padjajaran Meeting Room, Building B, 2nd Floor, DPD RI, Jakarta, Tuesday (January 25, 2022).
The Minister of Manpower said it was continuing to design so far in a way that would meet the needs of European countries such as the UK and Germany for PMI in the official sector.
“In terms of competence, they (PMI) already exist. Now we have to add new competencies, especially language competencies. The need for nurses (nurses) in European countries is high, in England, in Germany, and several countries in the European region are in dire need,” she said.
Overseas, PMI is known as a good worker. However, this positive assessment must be accompanied by sufficient knowledge of the language to be able to meet the requirements of European countries to fill the official sector.
“What we should be proud of is that our people are known as excellent workers. We just need to develop the skills we really need, the language skills,” she said.
The Ministry of Manpower said it continues to encourage language training at the Job Training Center (BLK) to improve the language skills of migrant workers.
“This is one of our forms in responding to the needs of formal workers with additional skills in the form of language acquisition,” she said.
