The demonstration of the Pancasila Youth Community Organization in front of the Senayan DPR Building, Central Jakarta, ended in chaos on Thursday (11/25/2021).
A police officer who secured the demonstration was ganged up. The Head of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Kombes Hengki Haryadi, was furious and immediately climbed into the PP organization’s command car.
“Middle officers were attacked, even though he secured this activity. I asked the coordinator to immediately hand over (the police beaters),” said Hengki on the command car. “We’re asking to be handed over or we’re going after!” he continued.
The police who were attacked were the Head of the Operations Section (KBO) of the Polda Metro Jaya AKBP Dermawan Karosekali.
As a result of the beating, Karosekali suffered an open wound on the head and was immediately rushed to the Police Hospital, Kramatjati, East Jakarta. Hengki regretted that the officers who went to the field to secure the demonstration had become the target of the angry crowd. “Don’t let your actions be tainted by violating the law, we who serve our colleagues, secure them, instead they are ganged up on,” said Hengki.
Hengki emphasized that from the beginning the police had never banned or prevented mass demonstrations from expressing their opinions. He then asked all members of the mass organizations present, whether the purpose of this demonstration from the beginning was to carry out anarchistic actions. “I am in charge of the security area, in front of the DPR, I am honestly sad. I am friendly with the chairman of Pemuda Pancasila in Central Jakarta, but our members are being persecuted by their own colleagues,” said Hengki. “Once again I ask the coordinator to hand over (the perpetrators of the beating),” he said.
