The Tebas Police of the Sambas Resort sector managed to uncover a motorcycle theft case, which was carried out by IL (35) a resident from Pontianak who lives in the village of Sepinggan, Semparuk sub-district.
The Head of Tebas Police, IPTU Ambril, revealed that the arrest of the perpetrator of the motorcycle theft was carried out on Wednesday at the Al Manar mosque on Jalan Raya Tebas, which is also where the perpetrator carried out his action a few days ago.
The police chief said that after receiving reports from residents about the loss of a motorbike a few days ago, they immediately conducted an investigation.
“The results of the investigation that we got, that the suspect will carry out a sale and purchase transaction with a meatball seller at the Al Manar Mosque where the suspect stole the motorbike,” he said.
Ambril said that after confirming the characteristics of the motorcycle to be sold and the face of the suspect, his party immediately arrested the suspect without any resistance.
“When examined, it turned out that the suspect intended to steal again. After the transaction is complete, he wants to take another motorbike at the same place,” he said.
The police chief revealed, from the results of the examination of the suspect. The mode used by IL in action was also pretending to participate in praying at the mosque.
“This perpetrator, in his action, first took the motorcycle keys that were stored in the mosque, because when the motorcycle owner was praying, the motorcycle ignition key was usually stored on the side wall at the end of the mosque’s shaft,” explained the police chief.
“So this is what the perpetrators use, first taking the motorcycle ignition key. Then ran away the motorcycle,” said the police chief.
For his actions, continued Ambril, the suspect was threatened with a five-year prison sentence in accordance with Article 362 of the Criminal Code regarding theft.
It is known that the theft of a motorbike was carried out by IL perpetrators, who took away a blue Honda Beat motorbike, on Monday (11/10/2021) night, with the mode of pretending to participate in praying.
