Jakarta – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) distributed 124,120 land certificates resulting from redistribution in a number of regions. Jokowi also conveyed a message to the Police not to hesitate to investigate the land mafia.
Jokowi’s statement was delivered at the Bogor Presidential Palace as broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube account, Wednesday (22/9/2021). Some of the recipients came in person at the Palace and some followed it virtually.
“I’ve said many times that I don’t want the agrarian conflicts that have occurred in many areas to continue and I don’t want the small people to have no legal certainty over the land on which they depend. I also don’t want entrepreneurs to have no legal certainty over their business land. This means that legal certainty over land that provides justice to all parties is in our common interest,” Jokowi said at the start of his speech.
Jokowi emphasized that the government is committed to realizing fair legal certainty. He then spoke about the cabinet meeting which had been held many times to discuss this agrarian conflict. In addition, Jokowi often invites regional heads to resolve cases of agrarian conflicts.
“I have also invited civil society organizations several times to discuss options for resolving each existing land case, many conflicts have lasted a long time or even a very long time. There are decades, even up to 40 years, but the problems are not resolved,” Jokowi explained.
Jokowi understands that this land dispute is a serious challenge faced by the community. In fact, said Jokowi, some people are willing to come to Jakarta to fight for their land.
“Today coincides with Agrarian and Spatial Planning Day, in 2021 I will submit 124,120 land certificates resulting from redistribution in 26 provinces and 127 regencies/cities. 5,512 of them are the result of resolving agrarian conflicts in 7 provinces and 8 regencies/cities which are priorities in 2021,” said Jokowi.
Jokowi said the handover of the certificate today was very special. Jokowi said this certificate was an additional new land for the people.
“This is really fresh land, which comes from state land, resolving abandoned land conflicts and releasing forest areas,” said Jokowi.
Only then did Jokowi affirm his commitment to eradicating the land mafia. Jokowi ordered the Police to take firm action against the land mafia.
“I also remind again that the government is fully committed to eradicating land mafias. To the ranks of the Police, I ask that you do not hesitate to investigate the existing land mafias. Don’t let law enforcement officers back up the land mafia, fight for the rights of the people and enforce the law firmly,” said Jokowi.
