REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUPANG — East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police Chief Inspector General Pol Lotharia Latif said the police were intensively patrolling the implementation of health protocols during the pandemic, especially during PPKM level 4. “We are members of the Covid-19 Task Force, both provincial and district/city. to carry out daily patrols. In addition, patrols that only involve their own personnel are also carried out every day,” he said in Kupang, Tuesday (24/8).
This was conveyed in connection with the efforts of the NTT Police in ensuring that the implementation of PPKM Levels 4, 3 and 2 was effective in the island-based province. The two-star commander said that so far the patrols that have been carried out continuously, either by members of the National Police or involving other task forces, are carried out every day and according to procedures.
After carrying out the operation or patrolling the implementation of PPKM, the task force immediately held an evaluation which was carried out every day. “Efforts such as patrols are still effective, and we carry out community awareness raising firmly and of course humanely,” he said.
In the implementation in the field, he said, there were still some people who were found not to comply with the health protocols and had to be disbanded. Activities such as gathering together in open places and even parties are still found during the patrols. However, he said, the implementation of the dissolution was carried out with good advice and understanding, so that the public also realized how important it was to obey health protocols.
He said during the process of implementing or implementing PPKM Levels 4, 3 and 2 in NTT, Covid-19 cases began to decline. The city of Kupang, for example, which was previously a red zone area, is no longer due to the number of cases falling.
