“But of course you still have to implement strict health protocols,” he continued.
Menpora Zainudin welcomed the permission given by the Police to hold Liga 1 and League 2. According to him, football competition is very important for the formation of the Indonesian national team which will host the upcoming 2023 U-20 World Cup.
“For the government, there is an interest in forming a national team, because we know that in 2023 we will host the FIFA U-20 World Cup,” said the Minister of Youth and Sports.
“Without competition, it is impossible for us to have a good national team or talents that will be monitored. We have then discussed these various considerations with the Covid-19 Task Force, Police Headquarters and related parties,” he continued.
The plan for Liga 1 2021-2022 will start the competition on August 27, 2021. Meanwhile, Liga 2 will start the competition about two weeks after the start of Liga 1.
