The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police and the ranks of the Regional Police revealed 33 cases of alleged violations of the sale of Covid-19 therapeutic drugs and oxygen cylinders in the midst of the PPKM implementation.
Of the total cases, at least the security forces have named 37 people as suspects. The violations include hoarding of drugs and oxygen cylinders, as well as sales above the Highest Retail Price (HET) set by the Government.
“Until now, the National Police have handled 33 cases related to stockpiling drugs, oxygen and selling drugs outside the HET provisions. Of the 33 cases throughout Indonesia, there are 37 suspects,” said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono in a virtual press conference. , Wednesday (28/7).
Director of the Tipideksus Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Helmy Santika explained that it was also found that there were acts of circulation without an official distribution permit. The police also arrested the person who sold the canister of a light fire extinguisher (APAR). The device has been modified into an oxygen cylinder.
“This is related to those who sell above HET. There are those who hold or stockpile for a specific purpose. Circulate without a distribution permit and make APAR tubes into oxygen cylinders,” said Helmy.
From the arrest, his party has confiscated evidence of 365,876 tablets of various types of drugs, 62 vials of therapeutic drugs and 48 oxygen cylinders. For his actions, the perpetrators who sell above HET will be charged with Article 196 of Law Number 36 of 2008, and Article 62 in conjunction with Article 10 of Law Number 8 of 1999.
Meanwhile, the perpetrators who use APAR tubes as oxygen cylinders will be charged with Article 106 of Law Number 7 of 2014, Article 197 of Law Number 36 of 2009, and Article 62 in conjunction with Article 8 of Law Number 8 of 1999, with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
