The Aceh Regional Police held a COVID-19 mass vaccination for public transport drivers. The Regional Police together with the TNI and the Aceh Transportation Agency are targeting drivers because they are classified as vulnerable to infection and transmission.
Mass vaccination was held at Terminal Type A Batoh, Banda Aceh. Drivers of Trans Kutaraja and other transportation took part in this vaccination.
“Why do we focus on our friends, the drivers? Because drivers are potentially vulnerable, have the potential to be exposed and also have the potential to transmit, “said the Aceh Police Chief, Inspector General of Police. Wahyu Widada, Wednesday (14/7/2021).
According to Kapolda, the driver in carrying out his duties often interacts with passengers. It doesn’t count how many people are served by the driver every day, thus opening up the potential for transmission.
“We never know the friends of this driver sitting beside him how many people change every day, many passengers change every day. If one person gets hit, tracing is difficult, “said Kapolda.
This mass vaccination can also be followed by the general public. Including passengers at Batoh Terminal.
The Kapolda appreciates the high enthusiasm of the public following the current mass vaccination. Because he believes that vaccines are the main defense in addition to complying with health protocols in fighting the pandemic.
“People are enthusiastic about following the vaccine. This is good news for all of us,” said the Kapolda.
