JAKARTA – The National Police changed the name of Operation Tinombala to Operation Madago Raya. The Tinombala operation is a task force that is pursuing a wanted list (DPO) from the East Indonesia Mujahidin (MIT) group in Central Sulawesi.
“Operation Nemangkawi and Operation Tinombala 2020, which have now changed, become the code, namely Operation Madago Raya. Please start disseminating it, so there will be no more Tinombala Operations, but Madago Raya, “said Assistant Chief of Police, Inspector General Imam Sugianto in the 2021 Police Leadership Meeting at Police Headquarters, Wednesday (17/2/2021).
Madago Raya itself is taken from the Poso language. In general, the meaning of ‘Madago Raya’ is kind-hearted and close to the people.
The Madago Raya operation period runs from January 1, 2021 to March 31, 2021. Usually, this operation will continue for 3 months until all MIT DPOs are caught.
In addition, Inspector General Imam touched on the Nemangkawi Operation which must be managed properly.
“Then Nemangkawi too, this really begs to be managed properly. In the preparation of the Nemangkawi Operation last year at the end of the year, we asked the intelkam and the intel directors, especially to carry out operations or optimize the Indonesian task force to manage the AMP (Papuan Student Alliance) group, “he said.
“It means that the existing student groups are mapped, if I’m not mistaken, in the 14 regions in this republic, they have actually carried out a raising operation so that we can really weaken their support for the intentions that will be rolled out in Papua. Especially this year, the agenda that is still emerging is the national strike. That will end in November the first phase of special autonomy which will be extended. They have already opened a plan for counter activities in a national strike, “he continued.
