MAKASSAR — The Quick Response Unit (URC) of the Mobile Brigade Resmob Unit of the South Sulawesi Regional Police arrested PAL (41), a suspect in the murder of a professor in Sukabumi Regency, West Java. The arrest took place in the Paccerakkang area, Biringkanaya District, Makassar City, following an official assistance request submitted by the Sukabumi Police.
PAL served as a domestic helper for the victim, identified as RPP (74), whose body was discovered on Friday (25/9/2026) inside a bedroom at his residence in Cicantayan District by the victim’s child and local residents. The victim was an academician and applied science researcher who previously taught abroad and produced technological works.
Inter-Provincial Tracking and Initial Interrogation
Upon receiving the request, the South Sulawesi Police Quick Response Unit conducted field tracking across Makassar to prevent the suspect from evading justice. During initial questioning, PAL confessed to the crime. Investigators are verifying this admission against physical evidence to reinforce the legal case.
Panit 2 of South Sulawesi Police Resmob Unit, First Inspector Muhammad Abel PM, stated that PAL is suspected of taking three ATM cards and U.S. dollar currency belonging to the victim, valued at approximately IDR 238 million. A portion of the funds was used to settle personal debts.
Work History Verification and Case Transfer
Due to a long-standing employment relationship, PAL routinely assisted with the victim’s personal affairs, including accessing employer ATM cards. Investigators are examining this background to reconstruct the exact sequence of events.
Following the arrest, PAL and confiscated physical evidence were transferred to Sukabumi Police investigators for further legal processing. Police continue to probe primary motives and connections to asset appropriation.
This case exemplifies effective inter-provincial police cooperation through standardized procedures spanning cross-jurisdictional requests, field tracking, apprehension, and case transfers to origin jurisdictions. The operation restricted suspect mobility and ensured legal proceedings progressed without impediment under the principles of #ReserseBekerja.
