JAKARTA — The Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police (Korlantas Polri) continues to strengthen its digital transformation within the national traffic enforcement system. This commitment is evidenced by the massive deployment of Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) Drone technology in the field.
This cutting-edge innovation allows officers to conduct real-time monitoring and law enforcement against traffic violations directly from the air. This modern surveillance approach is claimed to be highly objective and completely free of disruptions to public mobility or road traffic flow.
The presence of the ETLE Drone has officially become one of the most crucial innovations supporting the implementation of the national agenda, Operation Patuh 2026. This centralized police operation is scheduled to run simultaneously across the country for two weeks, from June 8 to June 21, 2026.
This year’s operation deliberately carries a strong spirit of digital transformation. The police have positioned the ETLE technology-based enforcement system as the primary instrument to boost public compliance in traffic.
The 60 Percent Electronic Law Enforcement Formula
Head of Korlantas Polri, Irjen Pol. Drs. Agus Suryonugroho, S.H., M.Hum., emphasized that the execution of Operation Patuh 2026 will heavily prioritize electronic law enforcement. According to the blueprint, approximately 60 percent of the total enforcement in the field will be executed through the reliability of the ETLE system.
Meanwhile, the remaining percentage will be balanced between manual on-the-spot ticketing and humanistic warnings by officers. This strategic policy is part of Korlantas’ grand effort to create a traffic enforcement environment that is more transparent, accountable, and fair for the public.
“This year’s Operation Patuh puts forward digital-based law enforcement through ETLE,” stated the two-star general during his clear briefing to the regional Directors of Traffic (Dirlantas) across Indonesia.
The use of the ETLE Drone is also deemed highly reliable in reaching various blind spots that have been difficult to monitor via static ETLE cameras or physical patrols by officers. With a wide-angle view from the sky, various types of major violations can be observed much more effectively and accurately.
The drone’s camera radar is directed to capture dangerous actions such as driving against the flow of traffic, lane marker violations, the use of modified or fake license plates, and other visible violations that risk triggering road accidents.
Supporting Precision and Data-Driven Enforcement
On the same occasion, the Director of Law Enforcement (Dirgakkum) of Korlantas Polri, Brigjen Pol. Faizal, S.I.K., M.H., conveyed that utilizing the ETLE Drone units is a highly strategic tactical step. This aerial surveillance reliably increases traffic monitoring effectiveness while minimizing potential bottlenecks for road users.
The utilization of aerospace technology also fully supports a law enforcement approach that is precise, modern, and rooted in scientific data accuracy throughout every traffic operation in Indonesia.
“The use of the ETLE Drone is a strategic step to increase the effectiveness of traffic monitoring while minimizing potential disturbances to road users,” explained Brigjen Faizal, providing technical details.
Through the implementation of Operation Patuh 2026, Korlantas Polri holds high hopes that the public’s independent awareness of the importance of traffic discipline will grow significantly.
Officials reiterate that the presence of the ETLE Drone fleet in the sky is not merely aimed at producing penalties or searching for motorists’ faults. This digital innovation essentially functions as a powerful visual educational tool, ensuring that a culture of orderly driving can grow sustainably to realize traffic safety, security, order, and smoothness (kamseltibcarlantas) evenly across Indonesia.
