On Tuesday (16/11/21), BNPT Director of Prevention Brigadier General Pol. Ahmad Nurwakhid acknowledged that the arrest of three suspected terrorists by the National Police’s Anti-terror Detachment 88 was based on evidence.
The three suspects arrested were identified as Farid Ahmad Okbah (FAO), Anung Al-Hamat (AA), and Ahmad Zain An-Najah (AZ).
“If the anti-terror Detachment 88 makes an arrest, it must be based on at least two pieces of evidence that meet the elements of a criminal act of terror as defined in Law No. 5 of 2018,” said the BNPT Director of Prevention on Wednesday (11/17/21).
The arrest of the three by the Densus was not arbitrary, according to Brigadier General Pol. Ahmad Nurwakhid. This is due to the fact that security forces’ arrests are still made in accordance with current and applicable legislation.
As a result, Detachment 88 arrests are more than just arrests. Everything is based on the legislation, which stipulates that at least two pieces of proof are required. That is why Densus 88 has been anti-terror as a law enforcement organization in the sphere of terrorism, which is among the greatest in the world, until now. “That is why we keep our professionalism,” the BNPT Prevention Director remarked.
