“Yesterday, Mr. President Jokowi called me and asked how the Covid-19 treatment is being handled in Riau. What can be helped? Then, I answered, what needs help now is vaccines. Because the people of Riau are very enthusiastic about getting vaccinated,” said Syamsuar to merdeka.com Sunday (15/8).
After hearing Syamsuar’s complaint, Jokowi promised to immediately send the vaccine. In fact, medicines and medical equipment for Covid patients will also be sent.
“The President immediately responded, he will also help with oxygen concentrators and medicines,” said Syamsuar.
Syamsuar admits that the current conditions in Riau are in dire need of oxygen concentrators, because they are in an archipelago.
Syamsuar said that currently the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) of Riau Province is incessantly implementing the vaccination program. However, due to the limited number of vaccine stocks, in the end many people have not been vaccinated.
“We, together with the Riau Regional Chief of Staff, Danrem, and Kajati and other Forkompimda are actively vaccinating the community. But because the number of vaccines is limited, we are overwhelmed,” said Syamsuar.
Meanwhile, based on a report from the Riau Health Office, Saturday (14/8) in Riau Province there were an additional 1,072 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Good news, there are an additional 1,323 COVID-19 patients who have been declared cured. The sad news is that 31 patients have died due to COVID-19.
