Jakarta – President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has officially awarded the honorary rank of Four-Star General to five retired Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) figures in recognition of their exceptional service to the nation. The award ceremony was held in a solemn military tradition at the Special Forces Training and Education Center (Pusdiklatpassus) Kopassus, Batujajar, West Bandung Regency.

1. Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin
Currently serving as Minister of Defense for the 2024–2029 term, Sjafrie was the best graduate of the Military Academy class of 1974. He is widely recognized as one of Indonesia’s most influential military figures. Throughout his career, he held key positions such as Commander of Kodam Jaya, Commander of the elite Nanggala Team XXI, and Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense.
He is known for his strong leadership and involvement in strategic national military operations.
2. Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Muhammad Herindra
Born in Magelang on November 30, 1964, Herindra graduated top of his class from the Military Academy in 1987. He has led various elite units, including serving as Commander of Kopassus and Commander of Kodam III/Siliwangi. He also served as Chief of the TNI General Staff and currently heads the State Intelligence Agency (BIN).
Herindra is respected for his disciplined leadership, strategic thinking, and extensive experience in intelligence operations.
3. Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Agus Sutomo
Born in Klaten on April 14, 1960, Agus Sutomo began his military career after graduating from the Armed Forces Academy in 1984. He held numerous important positions, including Commander of Kopassus, Commander of the Presidential Security Force (Paspampres), and Commander of Iskandar Muda Military Command. After retiring, he entered the private sector and is currently the CEO of PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara.
He is widely acknowledged for his contributions to national security and elite force development.
4. Lt. Gen. KKO (Ret.) Ali Sadikin (Posthumous)
Ali Sadikin was a legendary figure in the Marine Corps (formerly KKO) and served as Governor of Jakarta from 1966 to 1977. Known for his progressive leadership, he laid the foundations for the modernization of the capital city. Although he passed away in 2008, his legacy continues to be honored by the nation.
His honorary general title was awarded posthumously and received by his son, Boy Sadikin, during the official ceremony.
5. Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Muhammad Yunus Yosfiah
Born in Rappang, South Sulawesi, on August 7, 1944, Yosfiah graduated from the Military Academy in 1965. He once led the intelligence team in East Timor, served as Chief of ABRI’s Sociopolitical Staff, and was Minister of Information under President BJ Habibie.
This honor acknowledges his crucial role in maintaining political and informational stability during Indonesia’s reform era.
