Jakarta, Idnaround.com — Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati announced that the government will distribute Wage Subsidy Assistance (BSU) to 565,000 honorary teachers as part of the national economic stimulus program. The BSU targets 288,000 teachers under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), and 277,000 teachers under the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag).
“In addition to workers earning below Rp3.5 million per month — totaling 17.3 million recipients — the government will also provide wage subsidies to 565,000 honorary teachers,” Sri Mulyani said during a press conference at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday (June 2, 2025).
Honorary teachers will receive Rp300,000 per month for two months, specifically June and July 2025, amounting to a total of Rp600,000 per person. The distribution will begin in June 2025 and be implemented by the Ministry of Manpower in coordination with the Social Security Agency for Employment (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan).
The total budget allocated for the BSU program reaches Rp10.72 trillion, sourced from the State Budget (APBN).
In addition, the government is extending a 50 percent discount on job loss insurance premiums for 2.7 million workers in labor-intensive industries. “This aims to provide protection for workers affected by global economic pressures and export competition,” Sri Mulyani explained.
The BSU is part of five economic stimulus packages worth over Rp24 trillion, which the government will roll out during the June–July 2025 school holiday period. These packages include direct cash assistance, transportation subsidies, toll fee discounts, and social security incentives.
The program is designed to sustain public purchasing power and support national economic growth, which the government aims to maintain at around 5 percent in 2025.
