Jakarta — Shares of PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk (UNVR) soared during the first trading session on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, Friday (April 25, 2025), following the release of a stronger-than-expected Q1 2025 financial report.
As of 09:51 AM WIB, UNVR shares had surged 18.73% to Rp 1,775 per share. This significant jump came after the stock had already rallied more than 25% in recent days.
Edi Chandren, Lead Investment Analyst at Stockbit, explained that the surge was largely driven by investors’ reaction to the company’s better-than-expected quarterly performance.
“In our view, the relatively easy upside has already been realized,” said Edi in his review on Friday (April 25, 2025).
However, Edi noted that the continuation of UNVR’s upward trend will depend on improvements in the company’s sales performance, or topline growth. He emphasized that this factor carries higher uncertainty compared to improvements driven by cost-efficiency measures.
“Therefore, we see this share price momentum as an opportunity for investors to take profits and adopt a wait-and-see approach regarding the company’s topline progress,” he concluded.
UNVR shares had been under pressure in recent years due to stagnant sales growth and the evolving dynamics of the consumer goods industry. However, market sentiment has started to improve following stronger performance and the implementation of management’s efficiency strategies.
