Police Aim to Immediately Destroy Confiscated Drugs to Avoid Misuse

IDNAround – The Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto on Tuesday announced that the illegal drugs stored as pieces of evidence by law enforcers would be immediately destroyed following a court verdict. He explained that this is aimed at preventing future cases of drug mishandling, such as in the case of a former police official, Teddy Minahasa.

Teddy Minahasa is the former West Sumatra Police Chief who was found guilty of his role as the intellectual actor in exchanging crystal meth that was kept as a police confiscation with alum.

“We must not let people with bad intentions abuse the situation,” said the Metro Jaya Police Chief on June 27.

The confiscated drugs that are set to be destroyed under this new ruling will be those with high economic value, such as crystal methamphetamine and ecstasy.

In the April – June period, the Metro Jaya Police destroyed 34.51 kilograms of meth, 64.55 kilograms of marijuana, 23,,594 ecstasy pills, 1.23 million PCC, 12.95 kilograms of synthetic tobacco, and 1.02 pieces of synthetic seeds.
