IDNAround – The global community had begun viewing Indonesia in a positive light owing to its achievements in terms of the national economy and also cultural wealth, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated.
“Currently, we are trusted with leading the G20 and ASEAN next year, so Indonesia has grown even more considerably and is expected to be an example for other developing countries,” Hartarto noted in his official statement received here on Saturday.
The minister urged the central and regional governments as well as stakeholders, in addition to universities and MSMEs to help ensure the success of Indonesia’s leadership on the global stage.
“Indonesia’s important role is also reinforced by the trust placed by the United Nations in mitigating and formulating solutions to the world financial crisis in the Global Crisis Response Group (GCRG) along with Bangladesh, Barbados, Denmark, Germany, and Senegal,” he remarked.
The various global achievements showcased that Indonesia is becoming one of the countries that is increasingly being taken into account, so it is necessary to strengthen coordination among the central government, regional governments (Pemda), universities, MSME actors, and other stakeholders.
Furthermore, the minister noted that Indonesia had grown more resilient and able to clock impressive economic growth of up to 5.44 percent in the second quarter of 2022 as well as pursued the growth trend of above five percent for the last three quarters.
Moreover, the government was simultaneously endeavoring to suppress the inflation rate, particularly of food items, which it aims to maintain at a maximum of five percent.
“In future, if we continue to work together, we can still control inflation, and Indonesia will be able to handle the economic crisis and pandemic well. Hence, cooperation between the central government, regional governments, and Bank Indonesia is a good effort to keep inflation at bay,” he stated.
Furthermore, the minister said that Indonesia’s local wisdom contributed to the existence and improvement of the people’s economy. Thus, he was striving to continue to encourage various cultural and customary activities that could boost public economic activities.
The cultural sector was one of the media developed by the government to encourage tourism, such as that in Surakarta City. Through the G20 Presidency, the government sought to organize various working group events in Surakarta to push the rate of tourist visits, such as at the Mangkunegara Palace.
