President Joko Widodo delivered a direct warning to Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo, and Minister of SOEs (BUMN) Erick Thohir because their agencies still use high quantities of imported products.
According to the President, all imported goods used for operational activities can be produced domestically.
“Medical devices (alkes). Minister of Health, this is a bed for a hospital, I saw production in Yogyakarta, Bekasi, Tangerang,” he said while giving a briefing at the Affirmation of Proudly Made Indonesian Products which was held in Bali and Jokowi virtually on Friday (March 25, 2022).
“(Why) do you want to continue buying imports? I want to announce that I am annoyed. This hospital is also imported. The Ministry of Health will import later. Because now it’s very easy for me to see the details,” he said.
After that, Jokowi reprimanded the Minister of Agriculture, Syafrul Yasin Limpo.
Jokowi expressed his annoyance that the tractors currently in Indonesia came from abroad.
“Tractors like that are not imported high-tech. I’m annoyed. I was yesterday from Atambua, I saw tractors, imported machinery and equipment. This is not allowed, Minister. No,” he said.
Jokowi turned to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek).
Mentioned, the consumption of domestic products the ministry led by only Nadiem Makarim was Rp 2 trillion of the total budget given.
“This morning I just checked Rp. 2 trillion. It seems that there is no enthusiasm in the ministry. The matter of buying chairs, buying, cooking, want to import us, laptops to import us? We can already make all of that. Jokowi.
After that, the President expressed his feelings to the Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir because there are still the main directors of state-owned companies who still use a lot of imported products.
Therefore, he requested that the president directors be replaced.
“I conveyed to the Minister of SOEs, the president director has changed. What are we doing? (maintain),” said Jokowi.
