The Covid-19 vaccination program in Indonesia has been running for one year. The first injection of the corona virus vaccine was carried out on January 13, 2021, or exactly a year ago.
President Joko Widodo or Jokowi became the first person in Indonesia to be injected with the Covid-19 vaccine. Now, exactly a year into the program, the achievement of the Covid-19 vaccination has exceeded half of the target.
Based on a report from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) through the kemkes.go.id page, Thursday (13/1/2022), it was recorded that 118,624,831 people or 56.96 percent had received the full dose of the corona vaccine.
While the population who had received the first dose reached 173,462,798 people or 83.29 percent. For information, the government targets 208,265,720 people in Indonesia to receive the Covid-19 vaccination.
Primary Covid-19 vaccination in the country uses two schemes. First, the government’s vaccination program is given to health workers, public officials, the elderly, the general public, youth, and children 6 to 11 years old for free.
Second, a mutual cooperation vaccination program that involves the private sector. This program targets employees and their families.
In line with the primary vaccination, the government implements a follow-up or booster vaccination. The previous booster vaccination was given to health workers. Now, the government is expanding the coverage of booster vaccination to the general public, starting January 12, 2022.
Booster vaccinations for the general public are provided free of charge. The priority targets are the elderly (elderly) and vulnerable groups such as the immunocompromised.
