JAKARTA — TNI-Polri personnel arrested the Operational Commander of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) of the Yahukimo Region XVI named Demius Magayang alias Temius Magayang. He was arrested in the vicinity of PT Indopapua Jalan Gunung Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, Papua, on Saturday (27/11) at around 11.40 WIT.
“In the vicinity of PT Indopapua Jalan Gunung Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, joint personnel from the Nemangkawi Task Force and the Yahukimo Police succeeded in arresting the DPO Operations Commander KKB Kodap XVI Yahukimo Region on behalf of Demius Magayang alias Temius Magayang,” said Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Pol Ahmad Musthofa Kamal when confirmed, Sunday (28/11).
Kamal explained that the arrest began when a joint team from the Yahukimo Police and the Nemangkawi Task Force found out about Demius Magayang’s whereabouts. The security forces also pretended to be ordinary citizens driving a truck, but were breaking down in the middle of the road, precisely in the vicinity of PT Indopapua Jalan Gunung Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency.
Then, not long after, continued Kamal, the officers saw the Hilux car that Demius Magayang was traveling in at that location. “The team immediately made an arrest,” he said.
Kamal said that during the arrest, the officers helped to secure a number of evidences. Among them are one short assembled firearm, eight rounds of ammunition consisting of seven 5.56 caliber and one 7.62 caliber, knife, and mobile phone.
“The steps taken by the police are to secure the perpetrators and evidence, conduct investigations and investigations. The case is being handled by the Yahukimo Police Criminal Investigation Unit and the Nemangkawi Task Force is backed up,” he explained.
Furthermore, Demius was rushed to the Dekai Hospital for medical treatment. He suffered gunshot wounds to his left knee and ankle.
Demius Magayang alias Temius Magayang is the Operation Commander of the KKB Kodap XVI Yahukimo Region. He is also a DPO in a series of murder cases in Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency.
