With the high demand for medicines and medical devices in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the Riau Islands Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit sent a Food Task Force to directly check the availability of medical devices, drugs, and supplements that can increase endurance. This was conveyed by the Director of Criminal Investigation at the Riau Islands Police, Kombes Pol. Teguh Widodo, S.IK., M.Sc. on Thursday (21/7/2021).
From the results of the checks carried out by the team in the field, we can conclude that currently the demand for medicines and vitamins is very high. From the 14 pharmaceutical companies and pharmacies that we checked, the availability of drugs in accordance with the regulations of the Minister of Health, Vitamin C and Vitamin D are starting to run low. This is due to the high demand from the community.
“To meet the increasing demand for drugs in line with the surge in confirmed cases of Covid-19, the government has also encouraged the entire pharmaceutical industry, both private and state-owned, to increase their production capacity, including accelerating the drug distribution process,” said the Director of Criminal Investigation at the Riau Islands Police, Kombes Pol..Ik.
The Dirreskrimsus of the Riau Islands Police hopes that the need for medicines and vitamins will soon be fulfilled and distributed to health facilities and to pharmacies so that there is no hoarding in industry or in PBF (pharmaceutical wholesalers).
