Kominfo Provides Media Center Services for the G20 Indonesia Presidency 2022

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) presents the G20 Indonesia Presidency Media Center service. This effort was made to strengthen the dissemination of information to the public regarding the series of G20 forums and the G20 Indonesia Presidency.

Director General of Information and Public Communication (Dirjen IKP), Usman Kansong, on Tuesday (March 1, 2022) in Jakarta, said that the existence of the Media Center in addition to facilitating communication spaces between related ministries/institutions, is also a bridge of information for people who want to know the role of Indonesia. in the G20 international forum.

Usman also said that the Media Center of the G20 Presidency of Indonesia was in accordance with the direction of President Joko Widodo, who asked for the governance of public communications in echoing Indonesia’s role in the G20 Presidency.

“According to Presidential Decree No. 12 and Presidential Decree No. 18/2021 regarding the Organizing of the G20 Event, the Ministry of Communications and Informatics as the person in charge of the communication and media sector has the task of coordinating the execution of communications,” said Usman.

The Media Center, which is located at the Kominfo Building, Jalan Merdeka Barat 9 Jakarta, will facilitate and coordinate public communication activities and media services for each ministry/institution in the series of the G20 Indonesia Presidency. The activity agendas include interactive dialogues, media briefings and chief editorial meetings, with competent speakers in their respective fields. Various data and information in the form of press releases, photos, graphics were also presented in the Media Center. These contents can be used by the media and the public for re-distribution. There is also a Q and A, including G20pedia.

G20pedia is an electronic book that is divided into two major themes, namely G20 Overview and the G20 Presidency of Indonesia. The G20 theme at a glance discusses information about members, roles, agenda, and the importance of the existence of the G20. Meanwhile, on the theme of the G20 Presidency, Indonesia emphasizes information about Indonesia’s progress in the G20, the priority issues that are brought up, and the benefits that Indonesia gets while serving as the G20 Presidency.

Kominfo also provides access to information related to the G20 Indonesia Presidency to the public through the websites https://g20-indonesia.id/ and https://www.indonesia.go.id/g20/.

“It is hoped that other Ministries and Institutions can also take advantage of the existence of the Media Center to convey information to the media and the public at large regarding the 2022 G20 Indonesia Presidency,” said Usman Kansong.

On this occasion, Usman also revealed that Kominfo has planned to disseminate information about the G20 Indonesia Presidency, especially to several media abroad. In coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kominfo will collaborate with several communities such as the Indonesian Student Association (PPI) in various countries. The aim is to further inflame Indonesia’s role in its leadership in the G20 forum.

During the G20 Summit which will be held on November 16, 2022 in Nusa Dua Bali, Kominfo will also build a Media Center. Located at the Bali International Convention Center (BICC) Nusa Dua Bali, the Media Center will start operating on November 13, 2022. Can accommodate around 534 journalists, this Media Center provides facilities in the form of a working area, press conference room, interview corner, health room, relaxation room , dining area, media booth and several other supporting facilities.

“The Media Center will provide various information content as well as facilitate and make it easier for journalists to carry out reporting work around the implementation of the Summit,” said Director General Usman.

Indonesia’s 2022 G20 presidency has officially started on December 1, 2021 until November 2022. Indonesia in the Chair of the G20 brings up three main issues. First, the global health architecture, namely Indonesia’s efforts to lead the world to jointly strengthen and restructure global health governance after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The second is digital-based transformation that aims to lift the economy through digital technology. Which is now a new growth engine for the world.

The third is the energy transition as an effort to expand access to technology towards clean and affordable energy, as well as financing to accelerate the transition to more sustainable energy.
