Ministry of Health: Booster Vaccination for the General Public No Later Than In February 2022

Booster vaccination is carried out through two mechanisms, namely homologous and heterologous. Homolog is a booster vaccination using the same type of vaccine as the primary. While heterologous is defined as a booster vaccination that uses a different type of vaccine from the first and second doses.

The types of booster vaccines used include, for targets with a primary dose of Sinovac, half dose of AstraZeneca vaccine (0.25 ml) or half dose of Pfizer vaccine (0.15 ml).

For targets with a primary dose of AstraZeneca, half dose of Moderna vaccine (0.25 ml) or half dose of Pfizer vaccine (0.15 ml).

The booster vaccine is injected intramuscularly in the upper arm. Half dose injection is done using a 0.3 ml disposable syringe which has been marked with a dose size of 0.15 ml and 0.25 ml. For areas that have not received these single-use syringes, they can take advantage of those available.

For pregnant women, the use of vaccines refers to Circular number HK.02.01/1/2007/2021 concerning Covid-19 Vaccination for Pregnant Women and adjustments to screening in the implementation of Covid-19 vaccinations.

The implementation of booster vaccination activities is carried out at public health centers, hospitals owned by the government and local governments as well as vaccination service posts coordinated by the Provincial or District/City Health Offices.

The booster vaccination can be carried out simultaneously with the primary vaccination, with a different vaccinator.

“First, use vaccines that are near their expiration date,” said Maxi.
