TNI-Polri Tighten Mandalika Security Ahead of the 2021 World Superbike Final

The joint management of the TNI and Polri is increasingly increasing security ahead of the 2021 World Superbike (WSBK) final round which is only a matter of hours at the Mandalika circuit, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

“A total of 1,875 joint personnel have been deployed directly around the location to secure this WSBK,” said Inspector General Pol Mohammad Iqbal of the NTB Regional Police in Praya, Lombok city center, Saturday (20/11/2021).

Inspector General of Police Mohammad Iqbal said the total members involved in supporting this activity were 3,765 personnel, including the TNI Civil Service Police Unit and from NTB.

“Among them, there are special personnel to oversee the implementation of health protocols. There is also security assistance from the Directorate General of Police as many as 390 people, as well as two helicopters and two patrol boats,” he stated.

He added that there were five security lanes with 36 seats built before and around the Mandalika circuit. “The block from the airport exit to the Songgong roundabout is one of the corridors in question,” he said.

To flood the audience on the circuit, the NTB Provincial Government has prepared a series of scenarios. One of them is the distribution of medium and large size buses to transport spectators from downtown Mataram and Lombok Airport. “A total of 85 units of medium-sized buses are in preparation and have been used to transport WSBK audience passengers,” he added.
