Proud to Announce That Indonesia Will Host The 58th IAWP in 2021

The Parade of Nations is a tradition that has been carried out for the last 58 years in a series of events by the International Association of Women Police (IAWP). In this international event, Indonesia should be proud because it was entrusted to host the international policewomen conference which was held in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara.

Of course, this moment is an honor for Indonesia because it has been chosen as the first host country in Asia since the founding of this association in 1915. Initially, this conference was planned to be held in September 2020 in Yogyakarta, but due to the pandemic, this event was postponed until November 6-11, 2021. Labuan Bajo was chosen as the conference venue to support the 10 New Bali program, in which Labuan Bajo was named a super priority tourist destination (DWSP)

There were 400 participants in this parade, consisting of 200 participants from 37 countries, including Indonesia. Then the other 200 people were the Marching Band Team from SMAK Ignatius Loyola, SMP Arnoldus, and the Flag Bearer by the Youth and Youth Associations in West Manggarai.

The parade was opened directly by Kadivhubinter Polri Inspector General Johni Asadoma and accompanied by Central Kalimantan Deputy Chief of Police Brigadier General Pol. Ida Oetari, Karojianbang Lemdiklat Polri Brigadier General Pol. Juansih, Kapusjarah Polri Brigadier General Pol. Apriastini Bakti Bugiansri. Also present were VIP guests who witnessed this parade, namely the Regent of West Manggarai, participants from other countries. and was warmly welcomed by the entire Labuan Bajo community.

Later, the 58th International Association of Women Police will be officially opened by the National Police Chief General of Police, Listyo Sigit Prabowo, on Sunday, November 7, 2021, as well as a mass vaccination review activity in the city of West Manggarai together with the TNI Commander Marshal TNI Dr. (H.C.) Hadi Tjahjanto, S.I.P. The IAWP conference is considered to be the first hybrid concept conference in the history of the IAWP so that participants can attend via online and offline platforms.

The following are some programs that are a tradition of the IAWP Conference that can be attended by participants and have been adapted to the event venue in Labuan Bajo:

1. On November 6, 2021, the Parade of Nations will take place in Jln. Main City of Labuan Bajo.

2. Opening ceremony in the Ballroom of the Meruorah Hotel

3. Recognition of Heritage and Annual Awards in 2020/2021,

4. Ayana Hotel’s Closing Ceremony/Gala Dinner, and

5. As well as Komodo National Park Tours to Pink Beach, Padar Island, and Komodo Island,

This program from this conference is training sessions, in which there are 6 keynotes including the Minister of Home Affairs, Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations and 4 of them are inspiring female leaders from the country such as the Minister of Finance, Foreign Minister, Wamenparekraf, and Central Kalimantan Deputy Chief of Police. There are also 65 speakers who will share their expertise, knowledge, experiences and best practices to improve and provide enlightenment.

The theme raised in the IAWP conference this time was “Women at The Center Stage of Policing” with 5 sub-themes as follows:

Women, Peace and Security

Women and Leadership:

Police Women and Their Challenges

The Role of Women in Policing

Science, Technology, and Policing

Current Issues in Transnational Crimes

The conference was attended by 691 offline and online participants from 38 countries such as Asia, Australia, Europe, America, Africa and the Middle East as well as 8 international organizations such as INTERPOL, ASEANAPOL, GCCPOL, UNODC, ICRC, UN Women, UNDPO and JCLEC, with details as follows. following:

There were 446 online participants.

For Indonesian participants, it consists of representatives from each Polda and units at Headquarters. These representatives come from various levels of rank and fields of work. It is hoped that the representative participants can become future leaders and lead this organization with satisfactory knowledge, experience and expertise and have wider connections with law enforcement officers from around the world.
