Strengthening Emergency PPKM, Police Intensively Conduct Insulation and Patrol

INDOPOSCO.ID – The Indonesian National Police (Polri) will continue to conduct intensive isolation and patrols in order to increase citizen compliance with the regulations for the Implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).

“These steps are a way to improve the discipline of citizens,” said the Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) of the National Police Inspector General Pol Istiono from a written statement received in Jakarta, Saturday (10/7/2021).

Because of that, he continued, the plan is to expand patrols and blockades to residential areas to the scope of RT and RW. Insulation in residential areas can be done by utilizing mobile security posts (poskamling) as checkpoints so that the mobility of residents in and out can be reduced.

“This (blockage, ed) will have an impact on decreasing community mobility in public objects (places, ed),” said Istiono.

Istiono also requested that members of the National Police and other officers check the residents’ Work Registration Certificates (STRP) carefully before allowing them to pass through the checkpoint.

“SE (Circular Letter of the Minister of Transportation, red) No. 49/2021 has been issued regarding the travel of domestic people, which requires that people and vehicles must complete the STRP. This will make it easier for friends in the field. If it is found that vehicles and people are not equipped with STRP, they will be turned around,” said Istiono, quoted by Antara.

The Traffic Headquarters also hopes that people who are not interested in leaving their homes stay indoors.

“For people who are not interested in their work, it is better to just stay at home and not go anywhere. This is part of the fight to break the chain of the spread of Covid-19. Community participation is the key to breaking the chain of the spread of Covid-19,” said Istiono.

On Saturday, Kakorlantas and its staff checked a number of blocking posts in West Java, including Jalan Asia Afrika, Bandung City, and Cimahi. Istiono assessed that the blocking posts had reduced vehicle mobility in West Java during the Emergency PPKM.

There are at least 353 points of isolation posts built in West Java. The President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo on Thursday (1/7/2021) announced that the Emergency PPKM would apply to the Java and Bali islands from 3-20 July. (aro)
