Bengkalis Prepares 45 Elementary Students for National Science Olympiad Selection

Bengkalis – A total of 45 elementary school students from 11 subdistricts in Bengkalis Regency are participating in an intensive preparation program for the upcoming National Science Olympiad (OSN) selection at the elementary school level.

The preparatory training, which takes the form of a study guidance (bimbingan belajar/bimbel) program, is being held from May 18 to 22, 2025, at the Marina Hotel in Bengkalis. The program was officially opened by the Head of the Bengkalis Education Office, represented by the Head of Elementary School Development Division, Dirhamsyah, ST.

Dirhamsyah emphasized that this initiative is a crucial step to prepare students for the district-level OSN selection, which is scheduled to take place later in May 2025.

“Each subdistrict sent four students—two for Mathematics and two for Science,” explained Dirhamsyah.

In total, 44 students are taking part in this preparation session. Dirhamsyah also highlighted that the primary goal of the OSN-SD is to provide a competitive platform in Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MIPA) for elementary-level students.

“Through this competition, we aim to improve the quality of education, particularly in the field of science,” he added.

Beyond academic preparation, the program also introduces core character education values such as religiosity, integrity, nationalism, independence, and cooperation.

“This activity is also expected to foster a positive learning culture and encourage creativity and motivation for achievement,” he continued.

Dirhamsyah further underlined that the OSN-SD is designed as a healthy and fair competition, promoting sportsmanship. Through this event, students are expected to develop their full potential in science and mathematics while upholding strong moral values.

He also stressed that a consistent and sustainable implementation of academic competitions like the OSN will have a positive impact on improving the quality of education and learning outcomes in the region.

“Competitions like this are essential to motivate students, teachers, and education facilitators to continue striving for excellence with a strong spirit of fair play,” said Dirhamsyah.

Looking ahead, he expressed hope that this year’s OSN-SD participants from Bengkalis will perform optimally and bring pride to their regency at both the provincial and national levels.

“We hope these students will achieve the best possible results and proudly represent Bengkalis Regency,” he concluded.

Through this intensive training, the students are expected to be well-prepared to compete and showcase their best abilities in the upcoming OSN.
