Jakarta — The Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, officially launched the international electric car racing event, the 2025 Formula E ‘Jakarta E-Prix’, at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday, April 24, 2025.
In his remarks, Pramono reaffirmed his commitment to supporting world-class international sporting events in the capital city. He called on all stakeholders to ensure that the 2025 Jakarta E-Prix is held successfully and at the highest standards.
“When Mr. Iwan, the President Director of Jakpro, approached me to seek approval, I told him, ‘Mr. Iwan, if we are going to host it, we must go all out. Jakarta must be full speed ahead, successful, and the event must be organized excellently,'” Pramono stated.
According to Pramono, Formula E is one of the most anticipated sporting events, attracting fans both domestically and internationally. Therefore, he instructed that preparations be carried out thoroughly, covering not only the main event but also all supporting activities.
“Everyone coming to Jakarta must be welcomed with ease and made happy, especially our guests from all over the world,” he added.
Furthermore, Pramono emphasized that hosting international sports events is part of Jakarta’s broader strategy to enhance its global competitiveness. He set a goal to elevate Jakarta’s position from 74th to among the top 50 global cities.
“Whatever form of international sports event it may be, please organize it in Jakarta. We are fully prepared to be a good host,” he affirmed.
In addition to Formula E, Jakarta is also preparing to host several other international sports events in 2025, including running and hockey championships. Pramono expressed optimism that these events will further strengthen Jakarta’s position as a leading sports tourism destination.
For information, the 2025 Jakarta Formula E World Championship is scheduled to take place on June 21, 2025, at the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit (JIEC) in Ancol. Indonesia returns as host after a hiatus last year due to political year dynamics.
