A Number of Big Cities in Indonesia are Raining

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts rain with light to moderate intensity and rain accompanied by lightning to occur in a number of major cities in Indonesia on Monday.

According to the BMKG, tropical cyclone 94S in the Arafuru Sea which forms a meeting area and slows wind speed or convergence that extends from the Arafuru Sea, southern Papua region, to the northern coast of Australia increases the potential for rain in parts of Indonesia.

The existence of the system is predicted to cause light rain in the cities of Pekanbaru, Pangkal Pinang and Bandar Lampung; caused moderate-intensity rain in the cities of Medan and Tanjung Pinang, and brought rain accompanied by lightning in the cities of Padang, Bengkulu, Palembang, and Jambi on the island of Sumatra.

On the island of Java, light and moderate rain is forecasted in the Bandung and Yogyakarta cities, and rain accompanied by lightning is likely to fall in the Surabaya city area.

Rain with moderate intensity is likely to fall in Denpasar City and rain accompanied by lightning is predicted to fall in Mataram and Kupang.

On the island of Kalimantan, light rain is likely to occur in the cities of Tanjung Selor, Samarinda, and Palangka Raya, while the areas of Banjarmasin and Pontianak are facing the potential for rain accompanied by lightning.

In addition, light rain is forecasted in the cities of Makassar, Mamuju and Kendari on Sulawesi Island and light to moderate rains are likely to occur in the cities of Manokwari and Jayapura.
