Police Reveal Causes of Rising Food Prices

The National Police Headquarters Food Task Force (Satgas) found several factors causing the increase in food prices.

Brigadier General Whisnu Hermawan, Head of the Food Task Force at the National Police Headquarters, revealed several factors, namely natural disasters and high rainfall which prevented farmers from harvesting.

According to him, there are many factors that influence the price increase due to a decrease in the supply of basic commodities. At this point, Whisnu continued to say that there was no lawlessness factor.

“Therefore, the increase in the price of cayenne pepper is caused by high rainfall, the eruption of Mount Semeru and the end of the harvest period in several production centers which caused crop failures,” said Whisnu Hermawan to reporters, Tuesday (12/12). ). /28/2021).

Meanwhile, Whisnu said the increase in vegetable oil prices was caused by the increase in palm oil prices. As we all know, palm oil is the main raw material for making cooking oil.

Meanwhile, the increase in egg prices was caused by an increase in demand for these commodities. Therefore, the price of eggs in the market has increased.

“This increase has not been intervened by the government, because a few months ago the price of eggs had fallen far below the HPP,” he said.

However, the increase in commodity prices is expected to provide benefits. And cover the losses of recent times.

“It is hoped that the price increase will also improve or cover the losses that have been experienced in the previous few months,” said Whisnu.
