Throughout 2021, the Police Detachment 88 Team Arrests 370 Suspected Terrorists, Dominant from the JI Network

Towards the close of 2021, the ranks of the Special Detachment 88 Anti-terror Team (Densus) of the National Police issued the results of the arrests of members or people suspected of being involved in terrorist networks for the past year.

Head of Operation Assistance for Densus 88, Kombes Pol. Aswin Siregar, said that within one year, his party managed to arrest at least 370 people suspected of being involved in terrorist networks.

“370 people (who were arrested) since early 2021,” Aswin said when confirmed by reporters, Friday (12/24/2021).

As for the number, Aswin said, most of them are members of the Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) network.

“Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) is dominant,” said Aswin.

However, Aswin did not reveal the exact number of members who are included in the JI network.

Aswin only detailed the results of the arrests of the National Police Anti-terror Detachment 88 team in a matter of months during 2021.

For January as many as 29 people; February 24 people; March 75 people; April 70 people; May 17 people; June 25 people.

Furthermore, in July 8 people; August 61 people; September 7 people, October 1 person; November 17 people; and December 36 people.

Most recently, three suspected Jemaah Islamiah (JI) terrorists who were arrested in Central Java (Central Java), are suspected to be proficient in the field of Information Technology (IT). All three are trusted in the organizational structure in charge of IT for JI Central Java.

As is well known, the three JI terrorists who were arrested were AP, RR and NT. The AP is the Head of the Central Java JI IT Sub Division.

“His role is as a JI member with the position of head of the IT sub-sector in the JI Central Java network,” said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Public Relations Division Kombes Pol Ahmad Ramadhan at the National Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Thursday (12/23/2021).

Then, said Ramadhan, the suspected terrorists RR and NT were suspected to be members of the AP. Both are registered in JI’s organizational structure as members of the IT sub-sector in Central Java.

“His involvement is as a member of the JI terrorist and is a member of the IT sub-sector, the IT section of the JI network group in the Central Java region,” he explained.
