Responding to the Criticism of the Police, General Listyo Sigit Appreciates Public Suggestions and Criticisms

National Police Chief, Listyo Sigit Prabowo responded to the hashtags #PercumaLaporPolisi, #SatuHariSatuOknum and similar hashtags on social media. The hashtag is a form of public criticism of the Police.

He considered the hashtag arose because there was an error related to community service. “Why do I say this, lately there have been many phenomena that have appeared on social media which of course is a part that we must pay attention to. Because this is part of the task of colleagues to evaluate what happened to cause this phenomenon,” Listyo said in a statement. The 2021 Police Anev Itwasum Coordination Meeting event virtually on the YouTube channel of the Police Public Relations Division, Friday (12/17/2021).

“So some time ago the hashtag ‘it’s useless to report to the police’, then the hashtag ‘one day one person’ appeared, excessive violence by the Police was raised, there was violence when handling demonstrations, including when colleagues were on duty, and receiving reports that were not clear. so that there was a shooting, and this is also in the eyes of the public as an assessment,” he explained.

In addition, Listyo also mentioned other hashtags such as ‘No Viral No Justice’ from the public on social media. He also asked his staff to do an evaluation. He said that all assessments from the community must be accepted as part of criticism and evaluation for the police or Bhayangkara.

“Currently ‘No Viral No Justice’ appears, so if it does not go viral, the law does not work. They make a comparison of how cases that were started go viral, compared to cases that were started by being reported under normal conditions,” he said.

Therefore, Listyo asked all his staff to evaluate and accept criticism from the public. The goal is to improve and fix the good things to meet the expectations of the community. He also said that his party appreciates any criticism and suggestions from the public.

“On the one hand we have to accept all public perceptions as part of the evaluation, part of the criticism of us and of course this is the time then we can improve and then do better things to meet people’s expectations,” he said.

“However, these phenomena are certainly part of the task of colleagues to evaluate which side is still lacking in relation to the journey of our organization, both management and individual behavior, so we must fix this later,” he continued.
