National Police Chief Emphasizes Police to Guard Investment Amid the Covid-19 Pandemic

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo briefed the Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) Regional Police on Wednesday (15/12). It conveys some accent. Starting from monitoring Covid19 to monitoring the investment climate in Indonesia. The National Police Chief also remembered the message from Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who asked the National Police to monitor all forms of investment in Indonesia.

“When the handling of Covid-19 is good, this is our opportunity to open up space for other countries to invest in Indonesia,” said Sigit in a statement received by JawaPos.com.

Sigit’s instructions are not only for the Polda Sultra, but also for all ranks of the Kapolda.

“Like it or not, we have to control this. Investment can enter Indonesia and have an impact on economic growth. The multiplier effect on the community can really be obtained. The President wants the police to be able to oversee it, so that it doesn’t become a problem that hinders investment,” said Sigit.

Regarding the handling and control of Covid-19, Sigit again emphasized the readiness and anticipation that must be done during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays. Efforts must be made, namely acceleration of vaccination so that communal immunity is immediately formed. Then, the implementation of health protocols (prokes) in a disciplined manner. In addition, anticipation and prevention must also be carried out so that new variants of Covid-19 do not enter Indonesia.

“Vaccination is also accelerated, the process is strict and the PeduliLindung application is installed. Mr. President thanked all of us who have worked hard. So that this number is achieved and the position of controlling Covid-19 is very good,” said Sigit.

In order to ensure an uninterrupted investment climate, the former Police Chief of Criminal Investigation Unit emphasized to the Regional Police that they are able to carry out early detection and deal with obstacles quickly. According to him, in dealing with the situation, it is necessary to prioritize pre-emptive, preventive and finally repressive measures.

“In the future, preemptive and preventive actions will solve the problem. Repressive last step. Police must be present in the community. So that problems can be resolved before there is a potential disturbance. That is our job,” said Sigit.

Sigit further stated that the synergy and solidity between the TNI and Polri with the Regional Government, volunteers, religious leaders, traditional leaders, community leaders, and other elements continued to work well to unite in overseeing all government policies.

“I think the TNI-Polri solidarity has been building for a long time and must be continued. This is the master key. Don’t let there be a gap between the TNI and the Police because it will be a loss for all of us. The TNI Commander and I agree that if there is a problem, strict action must be taken so that it does not happen again. It is our TNI partner who must continue to work together to create a safe and comfortable Kamtibmas situation.” said Sigit.

Furthermore, Sigit reminded to continue to oversee the Precision program (Predictive, Responsiveness and Transparency of Justice) in order to realize people’s expectations of the Bhayangkara Corps institution. “I hope to achieve 100 percent of the quantity target. Only the quality can be felt by the community. So that we become a police officer who is precise and trusted by the community. I entrust this responsibility and I believe that my colleagues are capable of it,” said Sigit.
