Police Hunt for Spreading Calls for Jihad Against Detachment 88 to Burn Police

Jakarta – The National Police said that they were monitoring the content of an invitation to jihad that was allegedly posted provocatively on social media in the last few days.

The Directorate of Cyber Crimes, Bareskrim Polri, has also carried out cyber patrols to detect this content. Police said content creators had been warned.

It has been monitored by the cyber patrol team. Yes, a warning has been given, “said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General, Dedi Prasetyo, when confirmed on Friday (11/19).

Dedi explained that the content in question was in the form of messages that were spread on the WhatsApp messaging application and contained calls to carry out jihad actions. In addition, there was also an invitation to fight with the Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror Police.

The message also invites Muslims to burn down police stations in Indonesia. The message spreader wrote that the police were a legal mafia and a hotbed for uniformed criminals.

At the end of the message, the words “Commander of the Liberation of the Indonesian People, Commander of Laskar Jihad Siliwangi, Commander of Laskar Jihad Ambon 1999-2002” were mentioned.

“The cyber patrol conducts mapping and profiling of every hate speech, provocation, and hoax content,” said Dedi.

For information, on November 16, 2021, Densus 88 arrested three speakers related to the alleged criminal act of terrorism by the Jamalaah Islamiyah (JI) network in Bekasi, West Java.

They are Farid Ahmad Okbah, who is the general chairman of the Indonesian People’s Da’wah Party (PDRI). Meanwhile, Ahmad Zain An-Najah is a now deactivated member of the Fatwa Commission of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and Anung Al Hamat. The police believe the arrests are based on sufficient evidence and not as a form of criminalization.
