Getting Rid of Arrests, Illegal Extortion, and Corruption

Inspector General Pol. Dr. Rudy Heriyanto Adi Nugroho, S.H., M.H., M.B.A., Banten Regional Police Chief, praised detectives from the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate for their hand arrest operation (OTT) at the BPN Office on Friday (12/11).

In addition, the Banten Regional Police Chief urged detectives to never hesitate to act on information about unlawful levies and other corruption offences because, understandably, the public is outraged.

“I have directed the detectives not to hesitate in taking harsh action against unlawful levies and other corruption because it has significantly agitated the people, even with arrests to give a deterrent impact and a stern warning to public officials,” the Regional Police Chief explained.

The outcomes of this OTT will be evaluated by the Banten Police in the future. “I will not hesitate to order the ranks to perform OTT on additional corruption cases if required.” “In the Banten area, we are taking corruption extremely seriously,” said the Regional Police Chief.

Last Friday (12/11), the Banten Police performed an OTT on four members of the Lebak BPN and one member of the Lurah in Lebak Regency. Investigators seized three envelopes containing Rp36 million in cash, which is believed to be part of the money demanded by BPN officers for the processing of certificates. Since last Saturday (13/12), two suspects from the BPN Office employees have been apprehended.
