Depok – Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto received the title of honorary citizen of the Police Mobile Brigade Corps.
The awarding of the honorary title was pinned by the Commander of the Brimob Police Corps, Inspector General Anang Revandoko at the Mobile Brigade Headquarters, Kelapa Dua, Depok, West Java on Friday (12/11). In this case, Prabowo is considered to have high dedication and loyalty to the nation and state.
“Until now, sir, the soul of a hunter, the spirit of patriotism of the Brimob members that you have formed is very legendary in Brimob,” said Anang in his statement, Friday (12/11).
According to him, the figure of the Minister of Defense has passed down the spirit of patriotism towards the Brimob Corps so far. He also hopes that his staff can learn to become real fighters through the trainings that are prepared.
Anang asked Brimob members to learn to be real fighters with trained troops in the military such as Kopassus or other corps.
“Perhaps, as the defense minister, you can give us more space for training for our younger generation, who are at the forefront of dealing with armed criminal groups and terrorism,” he said.
Prabowo in his remarks said that he was heartened because Indonesia has a Brimob Corps that is skilled in duty. He then praised the Brimob commander because his troops had good skills and abilities.
“In human history, over several centuries, it is said that if you want to see the greatness of an army, look at its commander. If the commander is sluggish, if the commander is lazy, if the commander is silly, if the commander is timid, his subordinates usually go along like that,” Prabowo said.
“But today I saw your commander, the tiger!” he added.
The awarding of the honorary title was due to Prabowo’s dedication in serving in the military. At that time, he had served as Commander General of the Special Forces Command.
The man, who is now also known as Ketum Gerindra, then recruited 128 members of the Mobile Brigade Corps, known as the Hunter Company, and served in East Timor to Aceh. According to Brimob, what Prabowo did had an effect on the spirit of patriotism for Brimob troops so that they continued to grow.
In attaching the honorary title, Prabowo saw the attraction of the Penindak Detachment about increasing the ability of urban warfare and terror resistance. The award was pinned ahead of the 76th Anniversary of the Police Mobile Brigade. A total of 43,800 Brimob members attended the pinning ceremony.
