IAWP Success, National Police Chief: RI Able to Hold International Events in the Midst of a Pandemic

Jakarta – The National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia was able to safely carry out international events and pay attention to health factors in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. This statement refers to the success of The 58th International Association Of Women Police (IAWP) Training Conference in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

“This is an event that shows the outside world that Indonesia is currently able to carry out international events in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic. And this is certainly the pride of all of us,” said Sigit in a written statement in Jakarta, Monday (8/11/2021).

Sigit appreciated that the 58th IAWP Training Conference agenda could be carried out well. Moreover, he continued, Indonesia became the first Asian country to host the event since 1958.

“The Mandalika which will soon be held, then badminton in Bali and also the G20 Presidency series which will be held in early January to the end of 2022,” said Sigit. One of them is the Asian Talent Cup and the World Superbike Championship (WSBK) at the Mandalika Circuit, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

According to Sigit, the success of the XX PON agenda in Papua to the IAWP, cannot be separated from the hard work of the government, TNI-Polri, Health Office, volunteers and all other elements of society involved. According to him, the solidity of all stakeholders plays an important role in preventing the growth rate of the Corona virus.

“And this is also of course thanks to the hard work of all good friends from the Police, TNI, Health Office, all volunteer elements involved. So that we can control the rate of Covid-19. Currently, the numbers are very good, our positivity rate is below 1. Our BOR below 4 percent is all in a position far from the figure set by WHO, “said the former Banten Police Chief.

“We have to maintain this. We hope that after this series of activities is complete, the rate of growth of Covid-19 can be controlled and we can hold other international events. We are able to hold international events in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic situation and we can still control the numbers and the entire series of events is safe, smooth and healthy,” said the former Police Chief of Criminal Investigation Unit. Sigit emphasized that this positive trend must be maintained. Thus, other international events in the future can run successfully as has been done before.
