The 58th IAWP at Labuan Bajo was inaugurated by the National Police Chief.

The Meruorah Hotel in Labuan Bajo, NTT, hosted the opening ceremony of the 58th IAWP 2021, Indonesia. The event was opened by the Indonesian Policewoman Foster Mrs. Juliati Sigit Prabowo, as well as the National Police Chief, Police General Drs. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, M.Si. Along with the National Police Headquarters’ top officers, representatives from friendly countries’ law enforcement agencies, foreign female policewomen, and Indonesian policewomen from Sabang to Merauke.

The total number of participants in the opening ceremony and the entire series of conference events was 980, with information that included 39 participants directly attended by international participants from 12 countries and 2 international organizations, as well as 407 participants from Indonesia by following the Health Protocol. In addition, 235 international participants from 39 countries, including 299 Indonesians, participated over the internet.

The 58th IAWP Parade Of Nations, which is one of the traditions that has always been carried out for 58 years in a series of activities of the International Association of Women Police, was held the day before the opening as a welcome event as well as an event to show the hospitality of the local community (IAWP).

Polan Manacanegara, dressed in his oversized clothes, Indonesian Policewomen in various variations of the official Police uniform, the Marching Band Team from SMAK Ignatius Loyola, Arnoldus Junior High School, and the Flag Bearers, namely the Youth and Youth Associations in the West Manggarai area, were among those who took part in the Parade.

The residents of West Manggarai, particularly Labuan Bajo, were enthusiastic about this effort. The attendance of the community to witness the march of nations in an orderly manner while wearing masks, as well as the participation of various community leaders in the Parade of Nations to promote local culture as portrayed in NTT Traditional Clothing, demonstrates this. This event also serves as a platform for promoting Labuan Bajo’s tourism potential, cultural potential, and regional economic potential by empowering MSMEs.

The 58th International Association of Women Police Conference is also the first international conference to be hosted in Labuan Bajo, ahead of the 2022 G-20, which will use Labuan Bajo as one of the supporting venues for the main event in Bali.
