The Riau Police Department dealt with 20 occurrences of forest and land fires in Riau from January to October of 2021. Individuals were involved in 20 of the forest and land fires.
Kombes Pol. Ferry Irawan, S.IK., Director of the Riau Police Special Criminal Investigation, noted that his organization is now focused on investigating environmental crime cases, one of which is related to forest and land fires.
“Until now, the Riau Police have dealt with 20 occurrences of forest and land fires, all of which were caused by humans,” said Kombes Pol. Ferry Irawan, S.IK., during the Forum for the Environment (WALHI) Riau’s fourth environmental conference on Tuesday (19/10/2021).
He also stated at the time that the Lancang Kuning Dashboard Application had detected 6,000 occurrences of forest and land fires, but only 3,000 of them were true forest and land fires after verification.
“This program is also incredibly useful for dealing with forest and land fires. In the case of environmental crimes, we are willing to work with all parties, regardless of the information presented, as long as legal action may be taken “he stated
