Police Affirm Not Anti-criticism

Polri stressed that they were not anti-critical with the number of internet users who shared evidence of threats after tweeting “police in Indonesia can be replaced by bank security officers”.

“The National Police are not anti-criticism from the public,” said Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan, Monday, Head of the Public Information Section of the Police Public Relations Division.

Ramadhan said that criticism of police performance is also a form of public concern. Ramadhan said that if the police’s performance was criticized, it meant that the people wanted the police to be better.

“This shows that people who care about police performance want better police performance,” said Ramadhan.

Ramadhan said police would follow up on complaints about alleged threatening acts and said relations would be handled professionally.

“For this reason, the police respond by following up on reports or complaints in a professional, transparent and accountable manner,” he said.

When asked whether the victim should report the threat or not after tweeting “Police in Indonesia can be replaced by bank guards,” Ramadhan said, the police advocated authenticity in the application law.

“Let’s wait and see. What is clear is that the police support justice in law enforcement,” he said.
