West Kalimantan Police Reveal Illegal Online Loans in Pontianak

The West Kalimantan Regional Police raided an online loan office (pinjol) and arrested 14 people suspected of being employees who run the illegal business in the Pontianak City area.

Ditreskrimum West Kalimantan Police, Kombes Pol. Luthfie Sulistiawan said the raid on the illegal online loan company started with a public report.

The Ditreskrimum of the West Kalimantan Police explained that in following up on the community report, police personnel from the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of the West Kalimantan Police raided the company’s office which is located at Jalan Veteran, Benua Melayu Darat Village, South Pontianak District.

“We received reports from the public that there was a house suspected of being used as an online loan office that threatened safety and had harmed many people,” said Kombes Pol. Luthfie Sulistiawan.

The West Kalimantan Regional Police Intermediate Officer said that when the team raids were carried out there were employees doing their jobs and there were 14 from the company.

Police Commissioner. Luthfie Sulistiawan added that most of those arrested were in charge of being the operator as well as the Desk Collection.

“We have secured a number of evidences, namely in the form of 22 laptops, 18 mobile phones, nine computer CPU units, seven sim cards, three modems and documents related to the online loan,” explained the Akabri graduate in 1997.

Based on the examination, the loan company had 14 applications that were not registered with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) so they were declared illegal.
